Piano virtuoso and Fellowship of The Swing (2015) member, Jacopo Giacopuzzi is joining us again this Winter.  Not only a brilliant pianist, Jacopo is also a major tech geek and a very talented cameraman.

In 2013 he was enrolled in the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara in the solo piano studio under the guidance of Jerome Lowenthal, a faculty member also of the Juilliard School in New York City.  He received an additional Masters Degree cum laude in Piano performance under the guidance of Virginio Pavarana and another in Sound Design, with Mauro Graziani, at the Conservatory of Verona. He completed an internship in piano performance with Laura Cattaneo in 2011, and in 2010 Mr. Giacopuzzi collaborated with the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels.  In 2008 he studied in Weimar at the Liszt Hochschule with Gerlinde Otto and Federico Gianello.  In 2008 and 2010 he was an active pupil at Michele Campanella’s course at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. He has also made specialist studies with Dimitri Bashkirov and Sergio Perticaroli at the Salzburg Mozarteum, Julius Andrejevas in Porto and Vittorio Bresciani in Verona.  He studied the piano at the Conservatorio “E.F. Dall’Abaco” of Verona and undergraduated cum laude in 2006 under the guidance of Laura Palmieri, also winning one of the prizes offered by the Accademia Filarmonica di Verona for the year’s best diplomas.

Jacopo Giacopuzzi has performed at major festival and venues in the U.S. and Europe including the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, Pianofest in the Hamptons, Harmos Festival in Oporto, Accademia Chigiana in Siena in Siena, International Summer Academy Mozarteum in Salzburg, Young Talents in Rome, Amici della Musica in Verona and Lonigo, Festival of San Giovanni in Valdarno, The Liszt Marathon held at the Parco della Musica in Rome organized by Michele Campanella, the Liszt’s Week in Verona, Mantova, Brescia, Venice, Vicenza and Teramo, where he performed both as a soloist and in a piano Duo, Teatro Filarmonico di Verona where he performed Chopin’s Concerto no. 2 under the conductor Dian Tchobanov.

As a chamber musician, he has performed regularly in duos with violinist Anastasyia Petryshak with whom he took part in many music festivals in Italy, such as the Bologna Festival, Ischia Chamber Music Festival, Altolivenza Festival.  With clarinetist Alessandro Beverari he recorded for Vatican Radio and with pianist Sergio Baietta he formed the “Mephisto Piano Duo” performing the Liszt’s Dante Symphony in a new version by Vittorio Bresciani for piano duo, female chorus, reciting voice and video projections (Dante Experience).  The Mephisto Duo (as they named it) appeared for the first time at LeXGiornate of Brescia in 2011, and they continue to improve and update the multimedia experience under the guidance of Prof. Vittorio Bresciani, founder of the project. It recently had great success at the Ristori Theatre of Verona where they also performed the Dante Sonata by Liszt in the 2 pianos version by Vittorio Bresciani.

Jacopo has received the highest honors in competitions including:  Osimo, Maberbio, Gussago, Sestri Levante, Maccagno, Piombino, Moncalieri (2010), Riccione (March 2011), Lissone (Premio Liszt 2011), Sansepolcro (June 2011), where he won a scholarship to participate in Sergio Perticaroli’s masterclass in Salzburg, Premio Crescendo in Firenze (2012), San Donà Di Piave International Competition (2014) and International Liszt Competition in Los Angeles (November 2014).  In 2013 he received a special prize from the Jury at the Ibiza International Competition.

BIOGRAPHY

Jacopo Giacopuzzi, is pursuing a Masters Degree in Piano Performance at the Thornton School of Music at USC with Prof. Kevin Fitz-Gerald.  In 2014 he obtained his diploma at the International Piano Academy of Imola “Incontri col Maestro” with Leonid Margarius after attending also courses held by Riccardo Risaliti, Michel D’Alberto, Jin Ju, Anna Kravtchenko and Franco Scala.  Jacopo Giacopuzzi  was a fellow at the Pianofest in the Hamptons in 2014 where he benefited from the great personality of Mr.Paul Schenly.
